Xavier, Dwin

Background: When Lord Admiral Mallagant came to the Minos Cluster and cracked down on free-shipping, Dwin Xavier was confronted by customs officials. Although his records checked out, his name still made it on the customs report and when that report was read by Mallagant, Xavier's name stood out. Mallagant decided to dig into this man's past. Imperial records show that Dwin Xavier was captain of the Dreadnaught Dragon early in the Galactic Civil War. The Dragon was lost in combat during an engagement with a rebel frigate. The Dreadnaught should have been able to defeat the single frigate with relative ease, instead it was destroyed and almost everyone perished. Xavier was crucified by a general court-martial, reducing his rank to lieutenant. Instead, Xavier resigned from the Imperial Navy.

Viktor had heard of the "Dragon Incident" and decided to have Dwin brought in for questioning. Dwin was reluctant to speak about the past, but finally he opened up. Dwin was on the bridge of his ship, waiting to ambush a rebel convoy, when his XO asked him to step aside for a private conversation. Once in the bridge vestibule, the XO clubbed him on the back of the head and pushed him into the bridge escape pod and jettisoned it. Only moments later a rebel frigate dropped out of hyperspace nearby and began exchanging fire. The XO must have assumed command of the ship, possibly trying to defect to the rebellion. His crew was loyal to the Empire, but the XO could have deliberately made poor judgments and probably escaped in another pod once the destruction of the Dragon was assured. Dwin was responsible for the loss of his ship, even if it was indirectly. He took the loss of 14,000 lives too hard to return to the command chair.

Viktor believed Dwin and offered him a chance to redeem himself. He offered him a new commission in the Imperial Navy as Captain of one of his Escort Carriers.

Personality: Dwin is reserved, he still feels greatly responsible for the loss of an Imperial warship and 14,000 of his own men. The loss of the Dragon has made him more cautious, but as time goes on he is becoming more comfortable with command again.
