His expression is often a thoughtful or concerned scowl, but he flashes a toothy, mischievous-looking grin when something amuses him or he makes a witticism. His brown eyes have an intelligent alertness and intensity about them, except in moods of deep thought when his eyes have a distant and removed stare. During these reveries it is a habit of Caldar's to steeple his hands in front of his face or stroke his chin. He has a pale "spacer's" complexion, and a small but noticeable scar above his left eyebrow. When provoked to anger, his face contorts into a sneer and he doesn’t try to conceal his displeasure. His brown hair is short, regulation-length and his uniform is nearly always immaculate. He often carries a sidearm and a riding crop. He has a crisp, cultivated Core-World accent. |

| Background:
Caldar Quinn was the only child of Prefect Hinuph Quinn and Dame Dodora Quinn. He was born and raised in the privileged high-society of Brentaal. His father was an influential COMPNOR official on the planet, and an advisor to Governor Jerrod Maclain. His mother was an aristocrat from Esseles. She died when Caldar was an infant, due to a rare terminal illness. Caldar's paternal uncle, Daron Quinn, was an officer in the Imperial Starfighter Corp and this later influenced Caldar's decision to join the Imperial Navy. Rebels shot down Daron Quinn when Caldar was an adolescent, which instilled in him a strong loathing for the rebellion. During Caldar's youth it was suspected that he might be mildly force-sensitive; his father hushed up this information.
Caldar attended the Carida Star Academy, and had several prominent sponsors, thanks to family connexions. Despite the growing political turmoil, Caldar continued to work diligently at the Academy. Caldar graduated second in his class and was commissioned as a Lieutenant. 7 ABY: Lieutenant Quinn serves as Weapons Officer aboard the VSD-I "Stalker", Tapani Sector. The "Stalker" is reassigned to the Core, where she is involved in Imperial internecine fighting. 7.5-8 ABY: "Stalker" is aligned with Ysanne Isard. Quinn experiences several defeats at the hands of the fledgling New Republic Navy. Due in part to severe casualties, the young Caldar is promoted to Commander and serves as XO of "Stalker". 8.5 ABY: Following a particularly shrewd tactical judgement, Commander Quinn is given command of the sensor-modified Nebulon-B Frigate "Resolution". 9 ABY: Caldar participates in Thrawn's Campaign. During the general offensive, Caldar is reassigned to a senior position aboard the Imperial Star Destroyer "Aggressor". "Aggressor" participates in a fierce battle against reinvigorated NR forces shortly after the Battle of Bilbringi. "Aggressor" is heavily damaged, and Caldar is the senior-most officer aboard her left alive. Caldar decides to join with several warship commanders planning to enter the service of the secretive Viktor Mallagant. He sets a course for Kathol Sector. 10 ABY: The stricken "Aggressor" limps into the Kal'Shebbol system. Caldar is promoted to Captain and serves in Mallagant's forces during Operation Imperial Reunification. Caldar wrote a few short pieces on tactics for a naval journal, one of which was added to the curriculum at the new Elrood Naval College. 11ABY: During Genocide Force Superiority's offensive along the Rimma Run, Caldar became embroiled in the defection of Captain Jane Duran. He briefly commanded the VSD-II "Eagle". Following the liberation of Eriadu, Caldar was promoted to Line Captain and given command of a Pursuit Line. He was involved in the hunt for Duran, her capture and subsequent trial. During the trial the defence attempted to portray Caldar as incompetent and implicate him in a conspiracy. These allegations were proved entirely false, however. Caldar Quinn's present whereabouts are classified. |
| Personality: Caldar Quinn is a consummate and ambitious officer, who goes about his duty with professional efficiency. He is an intelligent and imaginative commander, with a sound grasp of tactics. Caldar is a charismatic man, who has a tendency to waspishly snap and bark out orders in combat situations. He can be very unforgiving of incompetency and has been known to quickly replace people who do not perform. While Caldar can get impatient with others, he is more likely to get frustrated at his own shortcomings. Despite an occasionally snappish command manner, Caldar generally displays a genteel deportment, garnered from his upper-class youth. Caldar is sociable and jocular with fellow officers, though has been known to look down at officers from "common" families. Caldar is self-assured, but endeavours never to underestimate his enemies. He has little or no sympathy for those who oppose the Empire. He is strongly committed to the ideals of the New Order, though not a "fanatic". While off-duty, Caldar socializes in the wardroom or retreats to his quarters where he reads widely, writes or engages in deep, meditative thought. |
| Objectives: Reach the pinnacle of his career, enhance his force abilities, restore the Empire to its former glory and survive the war so he can achieve all of these. |
| A Quote:
"Accept their surrender? No. Fire as she bears; destroy her." "Do not demur Mister, for no Captain can do very wrong if he places the enemy within the targeting reticule of his cannons." "Can you hear that noise, Lieutenant? It is the sound of an unwanted opinion being voiced." "Your objection is noted, Commander. I will be sure to pass on your criticisms to the Admiral; I can only imagine how he will react to your suggested amendments to his plan." |
