| Background:
The Claermoore family did not have a long history of military service, but
was extremely loyal to the Empire nonetheless. As Alderaan became more
peaceful and pro-Rebel in outlook, the Claermoore family relocated to
Corulag, the model political community of the Galactic Empire. Age 12 Kellin Claermoore had just joined his local SAGroup -- loyally taking up the Emperor's declaration of a New Order, when the Empire destroyed his home planet of Alderaan and the Rebellion against the Empire incinerated the first Death Star at Yavin. His older brother, Pallin, was part of a stormtrooper legion that was destroyed onboard the station. The Claermoore family (typical COMPNOR members who had a high disdain for the anarchist, criminalistic Rebels) was so proud of their eldest son's devotion to the Empire. Age 16 Devoted mostly to SAGRec's harsh physical training and wargames in preparation for future military service, Kellin's teenage years in SAGroup molded him into a loyal, elitist, arrogant, cruel son of the Empire. He was accepted into the Imperial Army at the age of 16, after nearly killing his nearest rivals while showing off his potential for the recruitment officers. Kellin's greatest wish was to be a stormtrooper just like his brother -- he was a mean bastard; his goal was to win at all costs. Possessing no aptitude for academics, Kellin exhibited the attributes of a good infantryman -- physically fit, fairly intelligent and very brave. Following standard policy of assignment, Kellin was asked what position he was interested in. Immediately, Claermoore answered, "Stormtroopers...what else?" His hopes were immediately shattered after signing the enlistment papers. Kellin found that new recruits did not proceed immediately into stormtrooper training and that he was also too short to meet the height requirements (he took after his mother's side of the family...unlike his brother). His sole reason for existence was torn from him. The sneaky Army recruiter assured him that the regular Army or even COMPForce was just as important in the scheme of things. The Recruitment Sergeant dismissed him and instructed him to report for processing and departure the next day. Several hours later, Kellin drove past the Recruiter just after businesses began closing for the day. He whipped his shiny new Ubrikkian 9000 Z004 lowrider into a U-turn and ran the landspeeder up onto the sidewalk, smashing into the Sergeant with a forward side-panel and crushing both of his legs (after switching off the repulsorlift field). The Recruiter still uses a repulsorchair to this day -- living off of a small Imperial Army pension somewhere in one of Corulag's slum districts. Claermoore didn't have to make a second choice as a result. As a signed recruit, Kellin was legally under military jurisdiction and a court-martial ensued. Taking his age and COMPNOR SAGroup record into consideration, he was condemned to serve in an Imperial Army penal unit. As an Alderaanean citizen, he was assigned to the infamous 9th Alderaanean Armor Battalion (then known as the 1/24 AR Penal Battalion). Without any basic training, Kellin shipped out with Redstorm Battalion and a partner COMPForce Assault regiment to the harsh, primitive hellhole known as Dante, somewhere near Huttspace. Kellin's anger was beaten out of him while he received some of the harshest training available. He quickly came of age among some of the vilest criminals in the Empire. Two months into the tour, their ISD transport abandoned them -- recalled during the Battle of Endor. Soon after, the 9th Battalion parted company with the COMPForce Regiment after refusing to follow its lead in taking over the planet. The COMPForce Regiment walked into an ambush and was annihilated by the lower-tech natives who used atomic weapons. Now we have young Kellin, his older brother dead, drummed out of the unit of his choice, placed into a unit of hardened criminals and psychotic nuts, sent to a world that is like Hell on Earth filled with assholes who don't play nice and left there for almost a decade. Being borderline psychotic upon joining, a major COMPNOR fanatic turned realist after his civilized ideals were beaten out of him, and fighting to survive on a war world -- Kellin becomes a raving lunatic. Age 18 After two years on Dante, the veteran warrior Claermoore was promoted to Sergeant of his squad. Serving in the 9th battalion's line company under Captain E.L. Demina, Kellin's squad initiated a massacre in the Blood River valley. His platoon commander, Lieutenant G'den L. Rikers, gave no such orders. Claermoore backed his men and spurred the attack onward, destroying the village and wiping out all prisoners -- later beating his men into submission for not following orders. He was commended by his lieutenant and word reached the Captain of his guts and superb command abilities. Age 21 One morning, Second Lieutenant Kellin Claermoore was called into Captain Demina's office. He received an assignment passed down directly from Battalion HQ -- a political mission to persuade a Dantean arms manufacturer to hand over control of the company to the 9th AAR. His task was to assassinate the CEO's oldest daughter, thereby forcing him to comply. Kellin suggested a change in the ops plan -- to wipe out the entire family and board of directors, saving manpower and resources should they have to keep doing this again in the future. His suggested were implemented for the most part, except Demina had him spare the CEO and one daughter. After hand-picking a squad of Army troopers, criminal hitmen and Dantean fixers, Lieutenant Claermoore succeeded in his mission and the 9th AAR's Dantean Standard Arms Company began gaining control of the local economy without relying on others for the battalion's arsenal. For the next few years, Kellin continued leading black ops missions for the battalion. Over time, the active line infantry of Redstorm Battalion was replaced by a composite assortment of criminals and troopers metamorphosed into repulsorlift infantry. Claermoore no longer served as an infantry platoon leader. A few months later, Kellin was summoned to the presence of the commanding officer of the 9th -- Major Duke Karl Von Tadjeager, newly-established ruler of the Protectorate of Karlstein. Claermoore had admired "the Duke" since joining as a teen -- Von Tadjeager being of Alderaanean aristocracy and idolized by his troops (the battalion being treated more like a personal guard than a breakthrough unit after their conquest of half the planet). The Duke, remarking on Kellin's sense of duty, sassiness, and "reputation for being a heartless killer who follows any order and kicks the asses of those who don't" placed Claermoore in charge of a new Political Operations Platoon, instructing him to build up the POP along the lines of his current squad and giving him a year to build it up into a short company of three platoons. Age 22 The POP becomes fully operational, not listed on the order of battle of the 9th AAR Btn with First Lieutenant Claermoore serving as its commanding officer under the same rank but with the pay of a captain. This was to keep the unit as covert as possible within the OOB. The Empire regains contact with its forces on Dante and orders the 1/25th AR into a proper billet in the Imperial Army. High Command restored the units original designation and colors and brought the 9th AAR back into the regular Army. As the Empire did not account for commando units as attachments to armor battalions, the newly-minted Captain Claermoore is reassigned to Imperial Army Special Missions for the next couple of years and ultimately SpecOps. |
| Personality:
Claermoore sees
the Army as the ultimate machine of Imperial success -- you can't win a
ground war unless the infantry goes in and takes the ground. As a platoon
commander, he's not privy to the grand strategy or the order of battle --
his primary mission is to survive and kill the enemy. As an Imperial
Special Mission officer, he is an expert on intrigue, profiling, wetwork
and other covert actions. He portrays a wild, sarcastic troublemaker when
off-duty but is actually an obsessed, duty-bound, fanatical Imperial
officer. He is on the verge of a split-personality disorder. Claermoore
enjoys alcoholic beverages and cigaras whenever they make themselves
available. Kellin has the typical disdain that most infantrymen have against the Navy (except when they are carrying the dropships of course), weapons contractors, and REMFs. He absolutely loves armor units but realizes that tanks and walkers fight other armor units and aren't always available to help the infantry. His duties on small unit operations or as a force multiplier in the field doesn't bring him too often into contact with other Imperial Army troops. He isn't politically aggressive. Whatever the chain of command tells him to do is fine with him. |
| Objectives: Kill the enemies of the Empire without getting killed in the process. Maintain a successful platoon by being the best-trained, hardest, meanest, psyched-up soldier he can be -- and have a good time between missions. He has finally realized that being a stormtrooper wasn't that great of a goal after all. |
