| Background:
In his youth, Zamiel
was an extreme adventurer. So much so that he left his homeworld
before even taking a wife, something that is seldom done on Devaron.
He would move rapidly from system to system, staying only long enough to
earn enough credits to charter his next space flight. He would
take nearly any job and he didn't mind who he worked for. Several
years past by, Zamiel had seen a great deal of action and had visited
worlds along almost every major trade route, from the Core Worlds to the
Outer Rim. He had taken jobs from the Hutts, bounty hunters, and
anyone else who would open their wallets. He had accepted a job with a group of men who claimed to be traveling spice dealers in exchange for a ride to a distant system. Zamiel was smart enough to disregard the "dealers" obvious cover story, he had used enough cover stories in the past that he could see through their phony disguises. He suspected to be Rebel Intelligence agents sent out to do their dirty deeds against the Empire, but he didn't much care who they were, unless someone would be willing to pay him for this information of course. The job was relatively simple, he just had to sit in a cantina and overhear a conversation between a small group of people. Zamiel wasn't stupid, so he told the rebels he would only disclose the information once they were on their way. The rebels turned out to be even more untrustworthy than he was. During the second leg of their journey the rebels finally got anxious and demanded that Zamiel tell them what he had heard. He looked at them and shook his head, "Nothing. I didn't hear anything. They were no-shows." The Devaronian was overwhelmed by the rebels as they stuffed him into the escape pod and jettisoned him. Luckily it was fully stocked with rations, or he would have been dead after the first couple of days. He spent almost two months adrift in the cramped escape pod, seeing nothing but the same stars. Boredom quickly overwhelmed him and he thought about opening the airlock to end it all. Just then the pod lurched as a tractor beam took hold and begin pulling him through space. The pod rolled around and through the viewport he saw the massive form of an Imperial Star Destroyer. To see something that awe inspiring up close might have even been worth the two months of boring isolation he had experienced. The Imperial Navy was skeptical of his story at first, and they double checked his identification twice to be sure he wasn't on any wanted lists. He was allowed to work as general labor until the starship came to port. He had been on the ship almost a week when its captain, a young officer named Mallagant stepped into his quarters. The officer asked him again where the rebels claimed to be setting their course. "It was a space platform, I believe. 3DC/Green." Zamiel answered. "I see. Because of your information, an Imperial Intelligence officer was sent to 3DC/Green to investigate. Do you know what he found?" Mallagant continued immediately as if the he already knew Zamiel didn't know the answer, "They found that the 'civilian volunteer rescue station' was nothing more than a front for a deep space rebel outpost. The Empire thanks you. I have been authorized to reward you for your information, so when we dock I will personally see to it that you have a transport to take you to where ever you wish to go." Zamiel nodded thinking for a moment, "Well, being an Imperial officer, do you travel a lot? Oh, and do I get to kill rebels?" Mallagant simply smiled before he stood and stepped out of the room. Zamiel enlisted into the Imperial Navy the following day. Getting to the position of captain certainly wouldn't be easy, but it would be one hell of an adventure. That was nine years ago. It really didn't seem to be that long to Zamiel. It took a lot of hard work and time and time again he had to prove himself to his commanders, his peers, and himself. It took restraint on his part to resist walking out just to visit a passing star system, but in time he was able to control his desire to wander. Today was the greatest day of his life, he was being promoted to Captain by none other than the same officer who had given him the chance almost a decade ago. |
| Personality: People who assume Zamiel to be a typical untrustworthy Devaronian scoundrel are completely wrong about him. In his youth, he was like most of his brothers, however today he has taken his place in the Imperial Military. He has learned to restrain his wandering tendencies by tempering himself with battles. He still becomes edgy, though, if he stands still for too long or if his ship remains in the same system for longer than a week. He has many stories to tell and he doesn't mind telling anyone who will listen. Most officers in the Imperial Navy have a hard time dealing with him at first, but the soon learn to respect him for what he has become. |
| Objectives: To see every corner of the Galaxy, even if it means to hang around in one spot for a while to get there. |
| A Quote: "To wander aimlessly is fun, but to wander and kill rebels is better." |
