Bazin, Sigmund

Background: Hadrin “The Turbolaser” Bazin. Timisted “Lightning” Bazin. If you know these men then you must be a fan of Limmie (Bolo-Ball). And if you know these men then you already have some insight into who I am. My name is Sigmund Bazin the last in a line of Hall of Fame Limmie players from the Bazin family. Bazin grew up on Tralus to a family that mostly made ends meet selling and repairing mining equipment. His extended family, however, were well-known in certain circles of the Galaxy. His grandfather, Hadrin, and uncle, Timisted, were in the Limmie Hall of Fame. Bazin could count off every measure and statistic that got his family there; He worshipped their achievements. He played Limmie in his spare time, and later on his school’s team, but his modest existence would never allow him to reach the echelons of his blood. Though Tralus, and its sister world of Talus, remain largely autonomous from the Empire and thereby lack an Imperial Academy, representatives of the Empire are constantly keeping their eyes out for prospective talent. Bazin caught such an eye after his leadership led his school team to a championship victory, but also his superior grades and paper titled, “A Fool’s Errand” – an analysis of the Ghorman Massacre that was ultimately sympathetic to the Empire. He was sent off-world to join the Imperial Naval Academy. Bazin’s time at the Academy was tumultuous, at best. His intelligence was noted but a lack discipline marred his experience. He always had a latent desire to play Limmie. Now off-world and with the means to do so, Bazin quit the Academy and joined the professional Limmie circuit. His skills (and name recognition) quickly vaulted him through the minor league system and onto Team Talus, Talus’ team in the Galactic Cup of Limmie. Bazin was never a superstar but was always reliable and showed great leadership. He never won a championship but he does keep a memento ball from a goal that won a playoff game. During the later years of his sports career, Bazin watched Galactic politics with interest as the Rebellion movement gained momentum. He always considered the Galactic Empire to be a model of strength and stability for the Galaxy. His sympathy for the Empire was further enflamed by the popularity of Limmie with Stormtroopers. “With your skills you would go far in the Imperial Navy!” was a common phrase told to him by fans. Bazin talked his way back into rejoining the Imperial Navy Academy. His new-found maturity let him to great success and graduation. Bazin’s biggest accomplishment was an investigation into the similarities between Limmie tactics and starship tactics; He published a theoretical light ship maneuver, based on his analysis, dubbed “The Limmie Pattern.” His first assignment was aboard a Carrack-class light cruiser running security patrols in sectors thought to be sympathetic to the Rebellion. A certain officer, suggesting a certain theoretical maneuver to the captain, would prove instrumental in victory over a run-in with smugglers.

Personality: Bazin seeks excellence around him but remains flexible enough to understand that sometimes failure is necessary. He is a personable man, prone to smiling (even if smugly) and sometimes the occasion laugh. In some moments of frustration and anger, Bazin is led to brash actions.

Objectives: To help the Empire achieve stability in the galaxy while furthering his own career goals.
