Violence on Pirin condemned in Senate
Local authorities on Pirin have been criticised in the Senate for the severe manner in which they have cracked down on rioters. Pirin is located in the Locris Sector and is home of shipwrights Kontag. Protests have been growing in size and intensity for some weeks now over the refusal of President Cassius DeZeis to resign following multiple charges of corruption and election fraud against him. Two days ago, DeZeis authorised his police and military to use lethal force against protestors. This only made the situation worse, causing more people to take to the streets and allowing nonviolent protests to escalate into chaotic riots. An anonymous Republic official has placed the death toll at 450, however the Pirin government maintains only 12 “innocent” individuals have died so far.
Senator Ast Upu (Representative for Kinyen) called DeZeis’ action in a speech in the house today, “An insult to the democratic ideals New Republic worlds are mandated to strive toward.” He went on to say, “I demand the Jedi Praxeum send an envoy to steer the government back toward the rule of law and fair operation of government.”
Senator Upu’s comments have been applauded and reinforced by several other members of the House. Regarding the question of sending Jedi to mediate, the Order has responded that its resources are presently too stressed to respond but it supports calls for intervention.
Terrorist attack on Iseno
Multiple, coordinated terrorist attacks ripped across Iseno’s surface today. Iseno is in the Inner Rim along the Corellian Run. A pro-Imperial group calling themselves the Brotherhood of Palpatine unleashed a string of bomb attacks against Defence Force installations. Local officials place the casualties at 1,000 or so. Those killed were not just military personnel, but numerous civilians visiting or working on the bases also. The Republic maintains a dozen military bases on the surface of Iseno, and five were hit almost simultaneously. The majority of casualties were from a Logistical Compound in the southern hemisphere. Wol City garrison commander General Joachim Lesaiz-Teureno said in a press statement: “This was a well planned and executed move. We have not captured any of the perpetrators but we do have some very good leads. We will catch these deranged criminals. Iseno will be a safe planet to live on once again. The Republic can and will offer safety and security, but not at the expense of people’s liberties and freedoms - unlike the Imperial Remnant”.
He also paid tribute to the fallen and offered his “sincerest condolences” to the families of the victims. The Brotherhood has promised more attacks until the Republic allows a planetwide plebiscite on the issue of returning the planet voluntarily to the Empire. The Senate has dismissed this as a ludicrous idea because there isn’t the political will and public support for such a move.
Senior public official caught in sex scandal
Representative Ju Ju Rasta (Representing Gungans of Naboo) was caught fleeing an exotic brothel as it was raided by police on Coruscant today. The brothel, known amongst underworld patrons as the most perverse establishment on the planet, was surrounded and stormed by police with a warrant to shut it down. One anonymous informant said: “Yeah the House of Sin was the place to go if you were into <expletive> up <expletive>. They catered to some strange and diverse tastes from across the galaxy.”
As NRNN understands it, Rep. Rasta was caught as he tried to run down the hall, with his trousers down. “It’s lucky Gungans are such clumsy sods.” Says police commander Andu Tetra. It is believed Rasta had to be beaten repetitively with truncheons before he was subdued. Tetra said, “I don’t know what Rasta was doing; frankly I don’t wanna know. The room smelt of rotting fish mixed with Hutt faeces. Nasty. Nasty. And this guy was elected!”
Rasta only had this to say, “Mesa gunna be in bomb-bad trouble nowwww.”
Unconfirmed reports of major Imperial offensive
An anonymous informant within the military has informed NRNN that unverified and sketchy reports are filtering in at an increasing rate that the Empire has achieved a major victory along the Rimma Run. Both anecdotal rumours and confidential military dispatches have made mention of the Imperial Navy making deep penetrations into Republic space. Allegedly, the Imperial Starfleet could have struck as far as Sullust. We know the Empire has forces in Elrood, so the idea of reaching so far seems implausible. However, the military and Senate Armed Services Committee have been conspicuously silent on this issue. More on this troubling issue as we gain more information. NRNN would like, however, to allay fears by stressing the unsubstantial nature of the evidence at this time.

Vice Admiral Mychael Ng challenged that "damnably impertinent nincompoop" Line Captain Sinan to a duel. Apparently Ng demanded satisfaction from Sinan after his line XO made sexual advances toward his flag captain Kami Fisher. It is not clear who the seconds will be at this time. It is Sinan's right to choose the weapons, and while he is very eager to choose feather dusters, he is not sure whether his pride will allow it.
Captain Dan Santoro is actually a changeling who has infiltrated the Empire, possibly working for the rebellion. Just what are this alien's nefarious aims?
Vice Admiral Mychael Ng suggested Drake enter the Yag'Dhul system without any backup in the hope he would be KIA and Ng would assume command of ShadowScream.
A young, attractive female Ensign sent nude pictures of herself via Naval Holotransmission to Captain Lobon Kindall. In a drunken state, Kindall "accidentally" forwarded them to all his contacts. Ensign Eliza Peshette has broken off her relationship with Kindall. Noone can guess how these pictures will affect her career: helpful or unhelpful?
Admiral Alex Drake cancelled the COMPNOR investigation of "immoral and unbecoming behaviour" regarding Ensign Peshette. He has made discreet inquiries within his crew – does anyone know how to make calendars on his PC?
